Native species
watch

Smart nest boxes have been installed at Lex Semple Park, Yeppoon and Woodlands District Park, Mackay to improve habitat and provide a refuge for local native species.

We share our urban environment with many native species. Sadly, habitat loss, rising temperatures and invasive species are making it harder for wildlife to survive.

Smarter nesting

Each nest box is fitted with an innovative, self-sustaining monitoring station.

This device allows users to stream live footage or take photos or video of what’s inside. It also records environmental data such as temperature, humidity, air pressure, and light levels.

Is anyone home?

These smart nest boxes enable you to stream live footage straight to your smartphone via Wi-Fi. You can also help monitor local native species by adding your observations to the public database.
