Grow you good thing: Celebrating National Agriculture Day
"Queensland has a lot of dedicated and strong farmers working hard to feed and clothe us all. They need more support, and navigating available resources can be challenging. Our role is to advocate for farmers and simplify access to these resources, partnering with farmers who are ready to engage.” Lene Knudsen, Agricultural Project Manager. |

"We’re hearing stories from farmers that climate change is outrunning us in this race for resilience and we're now competing with the elements to maintain sustainable production on the land. Thankfully, with the combined dedicated efforts of government programs, industry bodies and Queensland farmers, we're improving our odds in this race.” Jørgen Schmidt, Partnerships Manager. |
Resilience, productivity, sustainability
After a panel discussion on the importance of water security, incoming Queensland Government Minister for Primary Industries, Tony Perrett MP, took to the stage. The audience was happy to hear him talk about his government's commitment to working with Queensland Farmers' Federation and all farmers to build resilience in our productive landscapes.
This is a topic that is very close to Healthy Land & Water’s heart.
Amongst a huge range of agricultural productivity and sustainability projects, we are proud to head up the South East Queensland node of the Southern Queensland and Northern NSW Drought & Innovation Hub (SQNNSW Hub).
Our team works with node partners to organise and facilitate activities for farmers, agribusiness, and local communities to access innovative technologies and practices to build drought resilience in the region.
Our South East Queensland node facilitators support landholders to improve drought preparedness and help build resilience in the region’s natural assets, agricultural businesses and landscapes.
Find out more about how we are supporting farmers and landholders through the SEQ drought node.
Sustainable Agriculture Facilitators are supported by the Australian Government through funding from the Natural Heritage Trust under the Climate-Smart Agriculture Program.
