Dr Ben Longstaff is the Team Lead for the Knowledge Research team at Healthy Land & Water. Ben holds a PhD from the University of Queensland, where he focused on "Investigations into the light requirement of seagrasses in Northeast Australia." His dedication to environmental preservation has spanned over two decades, with a diverse career that includes roles in Australia, Canada, and the USA.
With extensive experience in environmental monitoring, catchment planning, and implementing solutions to improve waterway health, Ben has successfully managed complex projects in collaboration with diverse stakeholders and partners. In 2022, he returned to Australia, contributing his expertise to Seqwater and Ipswich City Council. Before this, Ben built an impressive career in Canada, reaching the position of General Manager at the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority.
Outside of work, Ben enjoys getting out on the waters of South East Queensland and camping in the great outdoors, showcasing his enduring passion for the natural world.
