Effective planning and measures |
The initial Fire Management Guidelines were created several years ago by our team to serve as a helpful resource for fire practitioners and landholders, offering direction on suitable fire management methods.
The Dashboard Fire Management Guides have been extensively used over time, prompting the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES).
These guidelines underwent technical and scientific reviews, with design updates, ensuring their relevance in changing climates and rainfall patterns.
After seeing the finished product, we've already had another area in Queensland let us know they are chasing funding to have a guide made for their local area.
This review involved conducting a comprehensive technical assessment and revision of six of the most frequently referenced dashboard guides and included the latest information, science, best practice and practical measures that can be taken to enhance bushfire resilience.
The six locations:
• Brigalow Belt South
• Brigalow Belt North
• Burnett Mary
• Cape York Peninsular
• Capricorn Coast
• Clarke Connors Ranges
The new guides versions are being made available free of charge on our website – click here to go to our resources section and download your copy.
More about the program
The Fire Management Dashboard Guide creation is an incredibly important project delivering up to date support tools for fire practitioners and landholders, helping them in appropriate fire management practices.
These guides and their constant updates enable decision-makers to implement measures for enhancing bushfire resilience in communities.
By providing the latest information, we can mitigate future disaster risks and boost the resilience of targeted communities, aligning with the Queensland Strategy for Disaster Resilience (QSDR). This initiative addresses the escalating bushfire risk due to hotter, drier conditions, offering vital information for effective bushfire preparedness and management.
